[Financial News] the Institute of International Maritime Affairs (director Jung Mun-su) at Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU, whose president is Ryoo Dong Keun) announced on the 4th that the institute had held a special lecture on the humanities and organized visits to the Marine Mobility & Safety Expo and the World Maritime Day Commemorative Event during the visit to Korea by the Yu Kun, a training ship from China’s Dalian Maritime University.
The institute held a joint seminar on Arctic routes and related academic exchanges with Dalian Maritime University in Dalian, China, on the 9th and 10th of last month. The events during the ship’s visit to Korea were an extension of those exchanges.
After discussing ways to strengthen academic and educational cooperation between the two universities and increase training-ship port calls, the visit to Busan by Dalian Maritime University’s Yu Kun, faculty and students led to two-way exchanges linking Dalian and Busan.
On the 26th of last month, the institute visited the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center with 83 people from the Yu Kun, including its captain and chief engineer, staff members and trainees. They also attended the 2026 Korea Maritime Mobility & Safety Expo and the 2026 World Maritime Day Commemorative Event.
Jung Mun-su, director of the Institute of International Maritime Affairs, said, “The significance of this visit by the Yu Kun lies in using training-ship port calls to bring the two universities’ maritime education and training, international exchanges and academic exchanges together in a single program, while expanding opportunities for students to meet and interact in person. We will continue to expand a maritime cooperation network linking Busan with port cities around the world through reciprocal training-ship port calls and exchanges among faculty and students.”
