[Financial News]  The government will hold a forum to seek solutions to social isolation together with the public.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare said they will hold the fourth “Everyone’s Forum” at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 26th, under the theme “Finding Connection-Based Solutions to Address Social Isolation.” The event will be held in conjunction with the 2026 Korea Government Innovation Expo, which runs from the 25th to the 27th.
The forum will discuss ways to restore social networks in local communities and establish community support systems, rather than treating social isolation solely as an individual problem.
The focus is on finding policies that connect people in their everyday lives, going beyond the provision of basic welfare services.
The discussion format will also change. While previous forums focused on arguments for and against policies affecting everyday life, this time experts will give presentations, followed by small-group and open discussions involving members of the public to develop concrete policy proposals. Participants will then vote on the proposals they find most compelling to select a representative proposal. The government plans to use the results as foundational material for future policymaking on social isolation.
A total of 150 members of the public will participate. Applications can be submitted through the 13th on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s website or via “Everyone’s Plaza,” an online public engagement platform. People who cannot attend in person can also submit their views online. Opinions submitted in advance will also be shared during the in-person discussion.
