[Financial News] Busan’s Haeundae District announced on the 4th that it had held the 2026 Haeundae Dreaming Village Festival at Haeundae Arboretum on the 24th of last month, under the theme “Bringing the Village Together with Residents.”
The festival was an integrated expo bringing together resident self-governance, welfare and lifelong learning. It was organized as a forum for residents to communicate, highlighting the natural scenery of Haeundae Arboretum and sharing the area’s diverse activities. A total of 61 institutions and organizations helped create it.
The opening ceremony began with performances by the Dream I children’s cheering squad and trot singer Baek Su-jeong, followed by the Hometown Love Award presentation, the opening declaration and an opening performance. A resident self-governance program competition then took place, with a total of 17 neighborhoods participating, and residents showcased the skills they had honed over time.
A total of 65 booths were set up at the venue, including “Rediscovering Our Neighborhood!” showcasing the distinctive features of 18 neighborhoods, as well as exhibitions and hands-on activities related to welfare and lifelong learning. Resident participation programs such as the Dongbaek Family Writing Contest and Dongbaek Family Photo Studio were also offered.
The closing ceremony included awards for outstanding model learners in Hangul classes and winning teams from the resident self-governance competition, as well as a donation handover ceremony. The donations, collected from the fees visitors paid for activities, will go to the Haeundae Love House project.
A district official said, “We thank the residents and participating organizations who joined us despite the bad weather,” adding, “We will continue to develop the festival into one that residents create and enjoy together.”
