[Financial News] LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solution will showcase power and communications infrastructure technologies for the West Coast Energy Expressway and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The companies plan to target the power infrastructure market with an integrated solution spanning everything from high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable manufacturing to subsea installation and maintenance.
LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solution said on the 4th that they will participate in the Bitgaram International Exposition of Electric Power Technology (BIXPO) 2026, which runs through the 6th at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju.
The exhibition will feature an integrated solution combining LS Cable & System’s cable design and manufacturing technologies with LS Marine Solution’s subsea installation and maintenance capabilities.
The West Coast Energy Expressway exhibit area in the exhibition hall features submarine and underground HVDC cables and a model of a cable-laying vessel. LS Cable & System will showcase its high-voltage, high-capacity power transmission technology, drawing on the fact that its 525-kV, 80°C-class HVDC submarine cable was the first in Korea to pass long-term reliability testing.
LS Marine Solution will introduce its seabed topography analysis and cable-laying and protection technologies. It is currently building an HVDC submarine cable-laying vessel capable of transporting and laying up to 13,000 tons of cable. It will also exhibit its submarine cable inspection, maintenance and repair technologies.
The AI data center (AIDC) exhibit area will showcase power and communications infrastructure technologies, including superconducting cable systems, bus ducts and communications cables. In particular, the company will outline ways to use superconducting cable systems capable of supplying large amounts of power, based on data centers’ power demands and grid conditions.
LS Cable & System is expanding its business into the global AIDC market in collaboration with affiliates including Gaon Cable Co., Ltd., LS Eco Energy and LS Materials.
Gaon Cable Co., Ltd. supplies bus ducts and power distribution cables for AIDC projects by U.S. big tech companies, while LS Eco Energy supplies bus ducts to global big tech data centers in Southeast Asia. LS Materials is also supplying UC (ultracapacitors) for AIDCs to a U.S. hydrogen fuel cell company.
