【Financial News Jeju=Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 At Korea’s largest foreign investment attraction event, attended by around 200 overseas investor companies, Jeju will present investment opportunities in strategic industries. Jeju Province and the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC) plan to assess the business conditions of prospective investors identified at the event and continue follow-up investment discussions.
On the 4th, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province said that Jeju Province and JDC would take part in the Invest KOREA Summit 2026, being held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Seoul from that day through the 5th, and operate a joint promotional pavilion.
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the event will run for three days, through the 6th. Around 2,000 people are expected to attend, including representatives from around 200 overseas investor companies, foreign-invested companies, foreign diplomatic missions in Korea and local governments.
The event’s main themes this year are artificial intelligence (AI) and regional investment. The government aims to attract overseas capital by linking the adoption of AI in manufacturing with growth industries in each region.
On the first day of the event, seven global companies are expected to file investment declarations totaling $2 billion (about 2.68 trillion won), the largest amount since the Invest KOREA Summit began. An investment declaration is a procedure through which a company reports its investment plan to the government.
The government’s investment attraction strategy is linked to its Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces policy, which aims to develop industrial growth hubs in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions. The strategy seeks to develop five mega-regions—the Seoul metropolitan area, the Southeast Region of Korea, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, the Central Region and the Honam region—and three special self-governing provinces—Jeju, Gangwon and Jeonbuk—as regional growth hubs, as part of a national balanced-growth strategy.
In line with this policy direction, Jeju Province will introduce investment opportunities in local industries to overseas companies. It plans to identify prospective investors by presenting major projects being pursued by JDC alongside investment support programs available in Jeju.

One of the foundations for attracting investment is the Jeju Advanced Science and Technology Complex. From the 19th to the 28th of last October, JDC accepted first-round applications for the sale of industrial-use land in Phase 2 of the complex. The project will provide a total of 13 lots, covering 75,860 square meters, for companies in information technology (IT) and biotechnology (BT).
The land comprises seven IT industrial-use lots totaling 27,328 square meters and six BT industrial-use lots totaling 48,532 square meters. The project will expand the base for related companies to set up operations in connection with the existing Advanced Science and Technology Complex, and is proceeding separately from this investment attraction effort.
JDC is also carrying out an autonomous-driving demonstration project at the Advanced Science and Technology Complex. Since August, it has operated an autonomous-vehicle service with Jeju National University in and around the complex, supporting the real-world application of related technologies and the growth of companies in the sector.
An important step in Jeju Province’s participation in the event comes after the on-site consultations. Jeju Province and JDC plan to assess each company’s investment potential and business conditions, then continue discussions with companies that have expressed interest.
Competition among regions to attract investment will also continue at the event. The government will hold sessions explaining local governments’ investment environments, dividing them into three industry groups: semiconductors and AI; bio and healthcare; and future mobility, logistics and batteries. On the 6th, on-site investment presentations will be held in four regions: Gwangju–South Jeolla, Busan, Daegu–North Gyeongsang, and Gyeonggi.
Kang Ae-suk, director of Jeju Province’s Economic Vitality Bureau, said, “We will identify prospective investors in related industries and hold follow-up discussions tailored to each company’s needs, so that they lead to tangible investment and the creation of local jobs.”
