As growth in wired and wireless telecom services slowed, revenue from its artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) business grew 27.7% year on year, appearing to establish itself as a new growth engine.
LG Uplus Corp. said on the 4th that its consolidated third-quarter revenue was tentatively tallied at 3.9813 trillion won, with operating profit at 297.6 billion won. Revenue was down 0.7% from the same period last year. Operating profit rose 84.1% year on year, reflecting a base effect from one-off labor costs the previous year and efforts to improve business-structure efficiency. Compared with the previous quarter, revenue rose 7.8%, while operating profit fell 13.6%.

AIDC revenue growth stands out
A standout area in LG Uplus Corp.’s third-quarter results was its corporate infrastructure segment, which includes AIDC, solutions and corporate lines. Broad-based revenue growth, alongside AIDC’s expansion, brought segment revenue to 472.2 billion won, up 10.4% year on year.
AIDC revenue rose 27.7% to 131.7 billion won, driven by the expansion of colocation and design, build and operate (DBO) services. It was also up 6.1% from the previous quarter.
Revenue from solutions, including artificial intelligence contact centers (AICC), rose 3.4% year on year to 124.4 billion won. Corporate-line revenue was tallied at 216.1 billion won, up 5.7% on growth in deployment-based business.
LG Uplus Corp. is building an AI data center in Paju with a power-receiving capacity of 200 MW. It plans to bring all four buildings online in stages by 2028. The first building, for which it has already secured customers, is being built with a capacity of 50 MW and is scheduled for completion in June next year, when operations are expected to begin.
The AICC business is expanding AI solutions developed from its customer-center operating experience, with a focus on the financial sector.
LG Uplus Corp. plans to broaden the industries it serves and expand its customer base by providing corporate clients with AI that has been validated in actual customer centers.

Telecom business growth slows
Mobile revenue fell 0.9% year on year to 1.6867 trillion won. Service revenue excluding access revenue rose 0.4% from the same period last year to 1.6232 trillion won, driven by growth in the total number of mobile lines.
The number of fifth-generation (5G) mobile lines reached 9.611 million, up 5.0% from the same period last year. 5G subscribers accounted for 85.5% of all mobile subscribers.
Revenue in the smart home segment, which comprises internet and IPTV services, rose 2.9% year on year to 665.5 billion won, driven by growth in gigabit internet subscribers and average revenue per user (ARPU).
Internet-service revenue rose 5.4% from the same period last year to 328.3 billion won. High-speed internet lines totaled 5.776 million, up 4.2% year on year.
IPTV revenue grew 0.6% from the same period last year but fell 0.4% from the second quarter to 337.2 billion won. The number of IPTV subscribers also declined 1.1% from the second quarter.
LG Uplus Corp. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Yeo Myeong-hui said, “Through the third quarter, we continued to make solid progress in improving profitability, underpinned by steady growth in service revenue and greater efficiency in our business structure.” The CFO added, “While strengthening the structural competitiveness of our core telecom business, we will turn opportunities in AI services into tangible results and work to continuously enhance corporate value.”
