[Financial News] On the 4th, Kim Min-seok, leader of the DPK, formally asked the opposition to defer taxation on virtual assets. He said this was necessary because companies and investors needed additional time to adjust, given conditions in the virtual asset industry and the need for fairness among investors.
Kim said that day, “I formally request that the opposition defer taxation on virtual assets,” adding, “After considering taxation principles, conditions in the domestic industry, and fairness among users, I concluded that it would be advisable to give companies and investors time to adjust.”
He also said he had taken into account the fact that taxation had been postponed in the past, and stressed, “This time, I will clearly set the deferral period and thoroughly prepare the necessary groundwork.” He also said he would work to help companies invest in new services and enable users to access services reliably.
Kim also sought the opposition’s cooperation on passage of next year’s budget bill. He described the budget proposal submitted by the government as “a budget to spread growth and a budget for growth for everyone,” and said he would focus on supporting youth employment and newlyweds.
In particular, he identified jobs, housing stability, and inclusive finance as the three priority areas and stressed that he would also ease the financial burden on local governments. He urged the opposition to cooperate so that next year’s budget bill could be passed by the statutory deadline.
Regarding fees at highway rest stops, he said, “Until now, it has been a multi-tiered structure,” and announced plans to lower concession fees to around 8–9% through a pilot project. Kim also mentioned his intention to work with the government to improve the operating structure of rest stops
