[Financial News] Shinhan Investment & Securities has joined a financial-sector campaign to prevent harm from illegal private lending and protect financially vulnerable groups.
It is also stepping up efforts to upgrade its system for detecting suspicious financial transactions (FDS) to protect financial consumers and introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology to prevent voice phishing.
Shinhan Investment & Securities said on the 4th that it had joined the ‘Finance That Saves Lives’ relay campaign organized by the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency.
The campaign was launched with the aim of ensuring that finance helps people rebuild their lives and make a fresh start. Financial-sector entities, including banks, insurers and securities firms, as well as public institutions and local governments, are taking part in a relay format to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal private lending and promote the value of inclusive finance.
Alongside its participation in the campaign, Shinhan Investment & Securities is also strengthening its technological response to protect customer assets from financial fraud.
By upgrading its system for detecting suspicious financial transactions (FDS), the company detects an average of at least 1,800 suspicious transactions per quarter. It is also working to introduce a ‘Call Pattern AI Analysis Solution’ that analyzes call patterns between customers and fraudsters using AI to prevent voice phishing before it occurs.
Shinhan Investment & Securities CEO Lee Sun-hoon said, “Illegal private lending and financial fraud are serious crimes that can upend customers’ daily lives. We will strengthen our consumer protection framework so customers can use financial services with confidence, and take the lead in putting compassionate finance into practice and promoting the value of inclusive finance.”
Meanwhile, Lee named Jin Seung-wook, CEO of Daishin Securities, and Lee Seok-won, CEO of Shinhan Asset Management, as the next participants in the campaign, respectively.
