Geumjeong District in Busan said on the 4th that it had signed a business agreement with Food Travel, an F&B entertainment company, at the main building of the district office on the 29th of last month to foster local F&B brands and support startups based on Geumsa Food & Park.
The agreement was established to identify and foster local food and beverage brands that embody the region’s unique resources and stories, in step with Busan’s growth as a city attracting global attention as a tourist destination. The plan is to develop these brands into local food content that appeals to domestic and international tourists, boosting the district’s tourism competitiveness and leading to local job creation and economic growth.
The support programs to be pursued under the agreement go beyond the existing startup support focused on food trucks, with an emphasis on turning distinctive local foods into competitive brands. The goal is to build a comprehensive growth-support system linking everything from product development, branding and content creation to real-world market validation and expanded sales channels.
Specifically, the two organizations will work together to identify and provide tailored support for locally specialized food and beverage brands, using the infrastructure at Geumsa Food & Park as a starting point. They agreed to actively cooperate on expert mentoring, brand content creation, marketing, connections to large-scale pop-up events and sales-channel support.
The district plans to strengthen administrative support to ensure the smooth implementation of the project. Food Travel, meanwhile, plans to draw on its F&B entertainment capabilities and experience managing projects in Korea and abroad to enhance the product and content competitiveness of local brands and broaden their reach among consumers.
The plan is to promote outstanding local food brands to domestic and international tourists and create a virtuous cycle that leads to actual visits to the area and consumer spending.
District Mayor Yoon Il Hyeon emphasized, “The food service industry has recently evolved beyond food alone into a branded industry in which people also consume a region’s culture and stories. Through collaboration with Food Travel, which has specialized expertise, we will develop Geumsa Food & Park into a hub for restaurant startups where competitive local food and beverage brands are born, and ensure that this can lead to the revitalization of the local economy.”
