[Financial News] Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. has posted a three-year cumulative return of more than 100% on its retirement pension default option (pre-designated investment arrangement).
It is the strongest performance among all retirement pension providers. Leveraging its competitive returns, the company is also rapidly increasing the balances of its defined contribution (DC) and individual retirement pension (IRP) plans, expanding its position in the pension market.
Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. said on the 4th that its “Aggressive Investment Type BF1” portfolio recorded a three-year cumulative return of 100.97%, according to the retirement pension default option disclosures announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, based on figures as of the end of September.
That is 43.39 percentage points above the 57.58% average return for aggressive investment-type portfolios across all retirement pension providers. The company also stood out against average returns by sector: 61.45% for securities firms, 55.76% for banks and 55.03% for insurers.
Notably, it maintained its competitive long-term returns even as global financial market volatility increased in the second half of the year. The strategy’s success was attributed to securing long-term investment performance through asset allocation and risk management, rather than simply responding to short-term market fluctuations.
The portfolio is managed primarily through the “MySuper Self-Growth” fund, introduced in collaboration with its affiliate, Korea Investment Management Co., Ltd. It focuses on strengthening long-term resilience in returns by diversifying investments across high-quality global stocks and alternative assets and applying an asset allocation strategy suited to the domestic capital market environment.
Pension balances are also growing rapidly. At the end of the third quarter this year, the combined balance of Korea Investment & Securities’ DC and IRP plans stood at 18.516 trillion won. That was a 44.8% increase from 12.7868 trillion won at the end of last year. The company said this was the highest growth rate among all retirement pension providers.
As competitive returns translate into actual inflows of pension assets, the company’s influence in the retirement pension market is also growing. In particular, as interest in products with returns linked to investment performance rises beyond principal-and-interest-guaranteed products, investment performance and asset management services are emerging as key factors in choosing a provider.
“We carry out sophisticated asset allocation and multidimensional risk management to cushion volatility in global markets and support the systematic generation of long-term returns,” said Choi Jong-jin, head of the Pension Innovation Division at Korea Investment & Securities. “As the long-term investment performance and service competitiveness of default options become increasingly important, we will draw on our proven investment experience to become a dependable partner, managing subscribers’ retirement assets throughout their lives with stability.”
