[Financial News] A customer claimed that a cockroach was found in a vanilla latte purchased at a Mega MGC Coffee franchise location.
On the 2nd, a post saying that a cockroach had been found in a Mega MGC Coffee vanilla latte was uploaded to the social networking service (SNS) Threads.
The poster, identified as A, wrote, “I had almost finished drinking it when something got caught in my mouth, so I thought it might be lemon.” A continued, “There was no way lemon would be in a vanilla latte, so I wondered if it might be a bug. I spat it out, and sure enough, it was.”
A went on to vent, writing, “I felt like throwing up and kept vomiting in the bathroom,” and “When I called the store, they answered while laughing, which made me furious.”
A said they had also submitted the matter to the Ministry of Food Safety, asking, “Is there anything else that can be done besides a refund?”
The post shared by A also included an audio recording of a phone call with the store. In the recording, a store representative said in a voice tinged with laughter, “We’re sorry if we caused you any inconvenience,” but added, “However, we’ve never had a complaint like this before,” appearing to evade responsibility.
Internet users who heard the call criticized the store’s apology as inappropriate.
They reacted with comments such as, “A cockroach was found, and they’re laughing? The owner’s response is disappointing”; “This doesn’t seem like a situation you can laugh off”; “Would they have spoken like that with a laugh if it had happened to them?”; “They’re making the customer even angrier when a sincere apology would be the least they could do”; and “Could it have come from the ice machine? If it isn’t cleaned properly, cockroaches could easily get in.”
