[Financial News] Jin Air CEO Park Byung-Ryul has resigned ahead of the planned March integration of three low-cost carriers (LCCs)—Jin Air, Air Seoul and Air Busan. Jin Air said he stepped down for personal reasons, not because of any management issue.
Jin Air disclosed on the 3rd that former CEO Park Byung-Ryul had resigned. The company said he left his post effective that day for personal reasons.
Jin Air said he stepped down for personal reasons unrelated to management.
Park took over as Jin Air CEO in March 2022 and was promoted to executive vice president last December. He later led preparations for the launch of integrated Jin Air, before stepping down after four years and eight months in the role.
A successor is expected to be appointed at a future shareholders’ meeting and board meeting, but no date has been set. The acting CEO who will lead Jin Air until a new chief is appointed has also yet to be decided, it is understood.
Jin Air plans to hold a shareholders’ meeting on December 7 to approve the merger. Integrated Jin Air is set to launch on March 17 next year.
