[Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop] Promising biotech and mobility companies in Gangwon State directly presented their technological capabilities to domestic and international venture capital firms, seeking to attract global investment.
According to Gangwon State on the 3rd, the 2026 Gangwon Global Investor Briefing was held at 1 p.m. that day at Hallym University Station-C in Chuncheon. Now in its fifth edition, the briefing brought together 10 local companies selected through an open call and evaluations by domestic and international investment experts. By sector, six companies were in biotech and healthcare, three in in vitro diagnostics and healthcare, and one in mobility. Before the event, the companies received expert consulting on their technological capabilities and commercialization and marketing strategies.
Taking the stage to present their core technologies and business models were HM Square, which measures blood glucose without a blood draw using AI-powered photoacoustic technology; Verm, a foreign-invested company with high-concentration postbiotic technology; Small Machines, which designs and manufactures its own microfluidic lab-on-a-chip; NeoAble, which is developing a medical device that uses AI to automatically redistribute air-cell pressure to prevent pressure ulcers; and TOFF MOBILITY, which has an end-to-end operating system covering everything from the introduction and certification of electric aircraft to maintenance and flight-data management.
Six organizations took part, including investment firms that manage actual funds—LSK Investment, Excel Investment and Global Innovation Labs (US)—and organizations that support the overseas expansion of Korean startups, such as Intralink (UK), Start2 (Germany) and The Garrison. After the presentations, company representatives and investors met separately for consultations, discussing follow-on investment and cooperation on overseas expansion.
Gangwon State said it viewed the briefing as laying the groundwork to connect companies with investors and lead to follow-up consultations. Since Company L, which took part in last year's briefing, attracted $5 million in foreign investment, the province plans to support this year's participating companies so that their consultations also result in actual investment.
“It was an opportunity for companies in Gangwon State's biotech and mobility sectors to directly demonstrate their technological competitiveness to domestic and international investors,” said Han Yeong-seon, head of Gangwon State's Industry Bureau. “We will continue to expand channels for engagement with overseas investors so that follow-up consultations lead to actual investment, rather than ending with presentations.”
