The 2026 Seoul Classic Car Show was held over three days, from October 30 to November 1, on the lawn plaza by COEX’s East Gate in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
Co-hosted by COEX and the Korea Classic Car Association and organized by Autocar Korea, the event featured classic car exhibitions, programs involving private owners, academic forums and more under the theme “In Search of Korea’s Classic Cars.”
A total of 18 rare vehicles were displayed, including a 1930s Cord L-29 Cabriolet, a 1960s Ford Thunderbird Roadster and a 40th-anniversary model of the first-generation Hyundai Grandeur.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (W198), launched in the 1950s, particularly caught visitors’ attention.
The car, which debuted at the 1954 New York International Auto Show, is considered one of the finest automobiles of the 20th century. It featured the world’s first gasoline engine with mechanical direct injection (215 hp, top speed of 260 km/h) and gullwing doors shaped like seagull wings.
An event official said, “We plan to open the COEX plaza as a public cultural space, introduce citizens to the historical and cultural value of classic cars, and address related policy issues as well.”
