[Financial News] Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) has been named a “LEAD Company” for the second consecutive year, an honor bestowed by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) on companies leading in sustainable management.
K-water said it was selected as a LEAD Company at the “2026 Korea Leaders Summit,” hosted by the UNGC Korea Association and held on the 3rd at Grand Hyatt Seoul in Yongsan District, Seoul. The designation is awarded only to the top 10 companies among 355 domestic members that lead in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainable management and contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). K-water was the only public-sector organization selected for the second consecutive year.
Launched by the United Nations in 2000, UNGC is the world’s largest sustainability initiative. It promotes corporate social responsibility based on 10 principles covering human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
K-water will serve as a mentor in a mentoring program for domestic UNGC members seeking to learn ESG best practices, and will also participate in working groups discussing domestic and international ESG trends and regulatory responses. This year, the corporation became the first in Korea to achieve global RE100 and received the highest rating, Grade 1, in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s Comprehensive Integrity Assessment.
K-water Planning Division Chief Gu Ja-young said, “We have once again demonstrated that our ESG efforts meet global standards,” adding, “We will create an ESG-leading model that represents Korea by expanding eco-friendly water energy, supporting our partners’ ESG efforts, and using AI responsibly.”
