[Financial News] A story has emerged about a woman in her 60s who lost 30 million won in cash her late husband had saved during his lifetime and got it back after a pharmacy employee reported finding it.
On the 3rd, Yonhap News Agency and other outlets reported that a report of 30 million won in cash being found was received at Ara Police Substation in Jeju City at around 4:30 p.m. on the 26th of last month.
The person who reported finding the cash worked at a pharmacy in Ara-dong. At around 1:30 p.m. that same month, the employee received a medicine box from A, a woman in her 60s, who asked them to dispose of her late husband’s medicine box. While sorting through it with the pharmacist, the employee found bundles of cash inside each of several medicine packets.
The police analyzed CCTV footage and other material to establish A’s appearance. Using as a clue a torn prescription envelope found in the medicine box bearing her late husband’s name, they located A and returned the money one day after receiving the report.
A said, “My husband worked as a taxi driver during his lifetime, then suddenly fell ill and died, so I was in no state to think clearly,” adding, “I had no idea there was money in the medicine box.”
She added, “I nearly lost the money my husband had carefully saved through my own carelessness. After my husband passed away, life felt lonely and empty, but I think the world is still warm,” expressing her gratitude.
