The event is being planned as a tourism experience combining exhibitions, hands-on activities and food, with the aim of keeping visitors in the area longer and naturally encouraging them to visit nearby major attractions and local businesses. The plan is to enhance Shinan County’s tourism brand value while also stimulating the local economy.
A Shinan County official emphasized, “We will widely promote the county’s outstanding bonsai resources and present tourism content that visitors can enjoy while staying longer, bringing vitality to the local economy.”
The event is hosted by Shinan County and jointly organized by the Korean Bonsai Association and the Korea Federation of Tree-Shaping Arts. The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 6th, the second day of the event, on the third floor of the Yellow Sea Exchange Museum.
A diverse range of displays will be featured, including outstanding competition entries submitted by bonsai enthusiasts from across the country, prized bonsai from Shinan County’s collection, and a fair featuring miniature bonsai.
Participatory programs will also be offered to give visitors plenty to see and enjoy.
Programs will include expert-led explanations of the exhibits, bonsai demonstrations and bonsai classes. A variety of food stalls will also be set up.
A Shinan County official said, “We hope many people will come to this event, where they can see the country’s finest bonsai all in one place, and experience the profound beauty and value of bonsai.”
