【Hanoi, Vietnam—Correspondent Kim Jun-seok】Daewoo Bus Vietnam supplied its self-developed EV8 EcoLine urban electric bus to Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), in line with Hanoi’s policy of transitioning to environmentally friendly public transportation.
According to local media on the 3rd, Daewoo Bus Vietnam recently officially handed over 11 EV8 EcoLine urban electric buses to Hanoi Transport Corporation. The EV8 EcoLine buses supplied this time are a model developed in-house at Daewoo Bus Vietnam’s factory. They measure 8.65 m in length and have a total passenger capacity of 60 (24 seats, 35 standing passengers, and one wheelchair space). Their low-floor design makes it easier for passengers to board and alight, and also improves accessibility for older people and people with disabilities.
The powertrain comes with a choice of two battery capacities: 279 kWh and 352 kWh. On a full charge, the 279 kWh model can travel up to 295 km, while the 352 kWh model can travel about 350 km. A full charge takes approximately 110 to 140 minutes.
The vehicles use high-efficiency electric motors, eliminating noise and exhaust emissions entirely during operation. They are also equipped with the latest safety and convenience features, including a full LED lighting system, surround-view monitoring cameras, digital LED signs, and accessibility equipment for people with disabilities.
Daewoo Bus Vietnam’s supply of the EV8 EcoLine comes as Hanoi accelerates its policy of switching public transportation vehicles from diesel fuel to environmentally friendly energy.
Earlier, Hanoi Transport Corporation and its subsidiary operators converted vehicles on six bus routes and launched one new route over the course of last October, putting a total of 94 new electric buses into service. The latest introduction of electric buses has not only expanded Hanoi’s environmentally friendly public transportation network, but also broadened the range of vehicle suppliers and products available for operating its routes.
Hanoi Transport Corporation plans to increase the share of environmentally friendly vehicles in its operating bus fleet to at least 51% by the end of 2026. This is part of the government’s comprehensive development roadmap to improve air quality in central Hanoi and build a sustainable, modern public transportation system.
