[Financial News] Bando Cultural Foundation, a nonprofit public-interest organization established by Bando Construction, has marked its 7th anniversary this year by preparing a special commemorative exhibition themed around “home.”
Bando Cultural Foundation announced on the 3rd that it would mark its 7th anniversary by inviting visual artist Hong Siya to present a special exhibition, “Building a Home There.”
The exhibition runs from October 24 through November 22 at the gallery in Ivy Lounge, a multi-purpose cultural space within Bando Yubora Ivy Park 8.0, which Bando Construction developed at Dongtan Station in Dongtan 2 New Town, Gyeonggi. Reinterpreting through art the value of the “home” that Bando Construction has built, the exhibition was conceived to encourage people living amid the fast pace of modern life and experiencing psychological isolation to reflect on the meaning of “home” as a place of complete rest, and to offer them warm comfort.
The exhibition features original drawings, illustrations, and spatial installation artworks themed around home and nature. In particular, the artist’s lyrical paintings are paired with passages from her book, “Building a Home There,” so visitors can experience not only an exhibition to view but also one to read deeply, as well as a space for healing. The exhibition space is designed to symbolize both one vast “home” and visitors’ “inner selves,” offering a journey toward peace of mind along the exhibition route. On October 31, a “Mind Croquis Drawing Workshop,” held in collaboration with paper furniture brand PaperPop, invited participants to draw their own homes on paper apartments and received an enthusiastic response.
Kwon Hong-sa, chairman of Bando Cultural Foundation, said, “Bando Cultural Foundation has continued to provide local residents with opportunities to enjoy culture and artists with a foundation for creative work.” He added, “Bando Group will continue its social contribution efforts to enhance the value of life beyond the value of housing, and grow together with the local community.”
Meanwhile, Bando Cultural Foundation, established in 2019 in line with the wishes of its chairman, Kwon Hong-sa, operates a library, gallery, and cultural education programs free of charge, with Ivy Lounge in Dongtan as its hub. It also actively carries out cultural sharing initiatives, including supporting young and local artists and hosting the free special concert “Starry Night.”
