[Financial News] The passports of all 168 people aboard the presidential aircraft, including President Lee Jae Myung and his wife, whose personal information was leaked, will be reissued. On the 3rd, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would reissue the passports of all 168 passengers aboard Code One whose sensitive information had been leaked.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Park Du-sun said, “We are carrying out measures to ensure the smooth reissuance of passports for the presidential couple and others.”
He added, “As soon as we confirmed the leak in advance, we requested an investigation and an inquiry. We are taking additional measures, including deleting the information and preventing the further leakage of personal information.”
Earlier, a list of Code One passengers believed to have been compiled during the trip to the Group of Seven (G7) summit last June was posted on a paid website related to security for about five months.
The list reportedly contained the personal information of a total of 168 people, including the presidential couple, senior government officials such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, and Wi Sung-lac, head of the Office of National Security at the Blue House, as well as Presidential Security Service staff and reporters accompanying the trip. It reportedly included sensitive information such as their affiliations, positions, dates of birth, and passport numbers.
Related materials had been posted since June 2, a week before the trip was due to depart. Reports that even the identities of personnel providing close protection to the president and medical staff had been exposed also prompted security concerns.
