After joining MBC in 1993, he worked in current affairs and educational programming and served as head of the Planning and Coordination Headquarters and the Drama Division, among other roles. Ilchulland, where Kang has taken office as CEO, is a nature, ecology and culture experience tourism facility in the Micheon Cave Tourist District in Seogwipo City. Centered around Micheon Cave, a natural lava cave, it runs experience programs such as tangerine picking and foot baths, and also offers tourism packages linked to MICE events, including corporate meetings, international conferences and exhibitions.
Kang plans to focus on combining new experiential content with existing natural and ecological tourism resources to make the tourism offerings more competitive. A key point of interest is how he will apply the content planning and production experience he has built up in broadcasting to tourism in Jeju.
Kang said, "I will do my utmost to develop distinctive tourism content and strengthen Ilchulland's competitiveness so that it can grow into a mecca for healing travel, where Jeju's pristine nature, distinctive culture and diverse experiences come together, and that is loved by tourists from Korea and abroad."
