From power analysis to service operations: agents built for real-world use compete
SK Telecom said on the 3rd that it had held the final of its in-house AI transformation (AX) project, ‘AX Spark.’ AX Spark is a project to identify AI agents that employees have developed themselves and are using in their work, and to validate their results.
SK Telecom developed at least 5,000 work-related agents in-house this year. A total of 173 entries were submitted to AX Spark, which ran from August through October. After preliminary rounds held each month, 20 outstanding cases were selected, and five finalists were chosen based on evaluations by internal and external judges, employee votes and other criteria.
The finalists included ‘ATLAS,’ a multi-agent platform designed to automatically handle work planning, development and operations. The Network Center submitted ‘PYLON,’ which analyzes electricity use and costs at around 180,000 telecommunications facilities nationwide.
The A. business unit unveiled ‘AUTO LLM JUDGE,’ a quality-control agent that identifies the causes of errors in AI responses and prioritizes them, as well as an ‘AI Service Operations Agent’ that automates user support, quality assessments and incident response. The Integrated Security Center made the finals with ‘M-TripleA,’ which analyzes malicious apps installed on smartphones and tracks attack servers.
Pursuing ‘one agent per employee,’ with plans for a company-wide rollout
Company-wide teams took part in the competition, including MNO CIC, which oversees marketing and network infrastructure, AI CIC and directly affiliated units. Both developers and non-developers submitted entries spanning a range of job functions and work areas.
Following the event, SK Telecom plans to roll out across the company AI agents already being used in the field. To change the way employees work, the company had previously announced its ‘one agent per employee’ initiative and has supported an in-house AX community, a development platform and training programs tailored to different levels.
SK Telecom CEO Jung Jae-heon said, “It is encouraging that we are moving beyond simply using AI for work and changing the way we work itself,” adding, “With the belief that the answers lie in the field, we will support efforts to improve organizational productivity and the company’s competitiveness through AI.”
