The Daemyeong 1-dong Community Service Center in Nam-gu, Daegu, successfully held the ‘Daemyeong 1-dong Hope Sharing Festival,’ organized by the Residents’ Self-Government Committee, at 6 p.m. on October 31 in the center’s parking lot.
Held every two years, the ‘Hope Sharing Festival’ is Daemyeong 1-dong’s signature neighborhood event, bringing residents together to share warmth and foster harmony.
Around 700 people, including local residents and invited guests, attended the event, drawing a large crowd. A variety of performances, hands-on programs and a sharing bazaar filled the area with laughter and energy.
Heo No-dae, chair of the Daemyeong 1-dong Residents’ Self-Government Committee, which organized the event, said, “I am deeply grateful that more than 700 residents came to this festival, which was organized to share warmth among neighbors and foster harmony among residents.” He added, “I will continue to do my utmost to make Daemyeong 1-dong a happy community full of warmth.”
Events inviting residents to participate got the festivities off to a lively start. A variety of hands-on booths for all ages operated alongside food stalls run by volunteer groups, including the Saemaul Women’s Association, the Better Living Committee and Tonguhoe, earning a strong response.
One resident who attended the event said, “I had even higher expectations because the festival was being held for the first time in two years. It was a meaningful time when I could laugh and enjoy myself with my neighbors and feel a warm sense of community.”
