[Financial News] Megazone Cloud is joining forces with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to apply Physical AI technology in industrial settings and commercialize it. The plan is to bring a robot operating platform developed by KAIST to manufacturing sites and establish a standardization framework that can connect the different robot, equipment and data environments at each company.
Megazone Cloud said it signed an MOU with the KAIST Manufacturing Physical AI Research Institute on the 2nd to cooperate in the field of Physical AI.
The two sides will pursue technical standardization among companies in the parts, equipment, AI and data sectors, develop joint business models and expand into global markets.
The goal is to establish a common foundation that will allow technologies validated in the research and demonstration stages to be repeatedly applied across diverse manufacturing environments.
Megazone Cloud will draw on its AI and cloud deployment and operations capabilities to bring Kairos 37, a robot orchestration platform developed by KAIST, to industrial sites. It plans to form a working-level consultative body to specify application areas, cooperation projects and the roles of participating companies.
This agreement is part of efforts to establish a standardization cooperation framework led by the governance subcommittee of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Physical AI Alliance. The subcommittee is tasked with resolving connectivity issues among the different robot, equipment and data environments at each company and supporting the overseas expansion of technologies and business models validated in South Korea.
KAIST plans to expand its partner companies and link each company’s robotics, AI and manufacturing systems technologies with Kairos 37, with the aim of entering overseas markets with integrated solutions.
Megazone Cloud Chairman Lee Ju-wan said, “We will combine the industrial-site experience we have accumulated through work with around 8,000 companies with the AI and AX capabilities of around 2,800 people, and support Physical AI technology in taking root in industrial settings and creating tangible value.”
