[Financial News] The original post alleging school bullying by actress Cha Ye-ryun suddenly disappeared. Her agency has denied the allegations as groundless, and now the post itself has also been temporarily restricted, drawing attention to the reasons behind it.
Access to a post titled "Please stop working already, 1985-born actress who bullied people at school"—which was posted on an online community on the 29th of last month—was restricted as of the 2nd.
The post was temporarily restricted under Article 44-2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.
A temporary measure restricts access to a post for a certain period when it is difficult to determine whether rights have been violated, such as through defamation, or when a dispute between interested parties is expected.
The author of the original exposé claimed that an actress born in 1985 had repeatedly assaulted and bullied them when they were in middle school. They wrote that they had been slapped in a building near the school and suffered a ruptured eardrum, and called on the actress to stop her television and YouTube activities and apologize.
The author did not name the actress, but people online identified Cha Ye-ryun based on clues such as her age and school. The controversy grew after further exposés appeared from people claiming to be her former classmates.
On the 30th of last month, Cha Ye-ryun's agency, HB Entertainment, said the allegations concerning her were "groundless."
The agency then also took steps to moderate YouTube comments. To prevent rumors from spreading unchecked and personal attacks against her family, it disabled some videos and comment sections.
With the original exposé that sparked the school bullying allegations now also subject to a temporary measure, the controversy is entering a new phase. However, it has not been confirmed who requested the measure or what exactly led to it.
