[Financial News] Online debate erupted over what actress Kim Ji-young wore when she visited the wake of the late Choi Bul-am.
On the 30th of last month, Kim Ji-young visited Choi Bul-am’s wake at the funeral hall of Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, with her husband, actor Nam Sung-jin, to pay her respects.
That day, Kim appeared wearing a black leather jacket, carrying a bag with a gold-tone chain, and wearing color makeup.
Standing with Nam Sung-jin in front of reporters, Kim paid tribute, saying,  “He was truly so precious and dear to us, and it’s heartbreaking that we can no longer see him. We will pray that he rests in peace.”
After the interview, Kim turned away and cried, and Nam comforted her by patting her on the shoulder.
Afterward, some online users criticized Kim’s outfit as inappropriate for paying respects, saying things like, “At least wear proper mourning attire” and “Did she dress up to go to a funeral?”
Others said that the sentiment behind visiting the wake to mourn the deceased mattered more than what someone wore. Other online users responded,  “I was just grateful to anyone who came to my parents’ funeral, even in brightly colored clothes,” “What’s wrong with wearing black?” and “Don’t stir up a controversy for no reason.”
Meanwhile, Choi Bul-am died on the 29th of last month, aged 87, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The funeral was held under the auspices of ChildFund Korea, and his funeral procession departed on the 2nd.
