[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) has created a forum for special education teachers to share their research findings and the latest educational practices, in an effort to improve the quality of special education and protect the learning rights of students receiving long-term treatment.
SMOE said it will hold the ‘2026 Seoul Special Education Lesson-Sharing Festival and Results-Sharing Session’ from the 3rd through the 13th. The event was organized to give special education teachers a chance to share with their colleagues the teaching methods they have researched over the past year and to explore ways to support education using the latest technologies, including edtech.
During the event, SMOE will sequentially distribute four types of research and instructional guidance materials tailored to classroom needs to help strengthen teachers’ teaching skills. In particular, it plans to support innovation in classroom teaching by presenting resources such as ‘Edtech Cheat Sheet for Special Education Teachers,’ which covers how to use artificial intelligence (AI) and digital devices in special education settings.
On the 13th, the final day of the event, a separate ‘Hospital School Results-Sharing Session’ will be held for students with health impairments receiving long-term treatment for chronic illnesses. The session will share examples of hospital school operations and itinerant education practices for students balancing treatment and their studies.
SMOE plans to actively incorporate feedback from teachers in the field gathered during the event into next year’s special education and hospital school policies.
Geun-sik Chung, Seoul superintendent of education, said, “I hope the intense efforts in classrooms that have been a private struggle will grow into greater learning through the process of sharing with colleagues,” adding, “I will provide unstinting support to ensure that children’s learning does not stop in any educational environment.”
