Family of woman in her 20s who died during marathon seeks witnesses: “Even the smallest detail could be a valuable clue”

[Financial News] The family of a woman in her 20s who collapsed about 500 meters from the finish line and died during the Seoul Race Half Marathon held on the 11th of last month is seeking witnesses to establish what happened at the time of the accident.
Recently, posts saying that the family of the late Ms. Yoo is looking for witnesses have been appearing one after another and circulating widely on online communities, including DC Inside’s Running Minor Gallery and Ppomppu’s Running Forum.
The author of one post, identified as A, introduced herself as Ms. Yoo’s maternal aunt and wrote, “My niece suddenly collapsed about 500 meters before reaching the finish line, and ultimately passed away.”
She went on to explain why she had posted, saying, “We want to accurately establish the circumstances of the accident, the emergency response at the scene, and what happened before and after the ambulance arrived.”
She added, “We would be grateful if anyone who took photos or videos at the scene or knows anything about what happened would contact us.”
The family is seeking tips from: runners or others at the scene who directly witnessed Ms. Yoo collapse; people who witnessed the emergency treatment near the finish line and the process of the ambulance entering the area; and anyone with photos or videos taken there at the time.
A emphasized, “Even a small recollection or seemingly minor detail could be a very valuable clue for our family.”
A added, “This request is to establish the facts of the accident accurately, and we will take care to protect the identities and personal information of those who come forward,” and urged, “We sincerely ask for help from anyone who remembers the scene at the time.”

Earlier, the 2026 Seoul Race Organizing Committee issued an official statement about Ms. Yoo, saying, “After receiving emergency treatment at the scene, she was transported to a medical facility by a 119 ambulance and received treatment, but sadly passed away.” The committee added, “We will carefully review the relevant matters and continue with the necessary follow-up measures.”
