【Financial News, Jeju—Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Jeju’s traditional feast culture, known as ‘gamun janchi,’ is being reimagined as a cultural tourism festival in which visitors can take part. Traditional games and local food experiences, along with performances by Peppertones, Park Myung-soo and others, will take place at Jeju-mok Government Office on the 7th–8th.
According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Tourism Association on the 2nd, the two organizations will hold the ‘2026 Jeju Antre Festival—Romantic Jeju’ over two days starting on the 7th, around Jeju-mok Government Office in downtown Jeju City.
The festival uses the hospitality and community spirit embodied in gamun janchi, Jeju’s traditional wedding and feast culture, as tourism content. At Jeju-mok Government Office, once the center of Jeju’s administration during the Joseon era, local customs will be presented through performances, food and hands-on programs.
The festival grounds will feature a reimagined version of the ‘solmun,’ a pine gate traditionally used to welcome guests to feasts. Visitors can explore the grounds using a mission map designed like a wedding invitation and take part in activities including ‘Neokdungbaegi,’ a traditional Jeju game of yut, a hamjinabi experience and a fortune-telling program in the Jeju language.
There will also be a traditional wedding photo zone and activities such as making couple bracelets and stone-wall mood lights. ‘Tamna Dining’ will serve Jeju specialties, including skewers made with Jeju horned turban sea snail and black pork, the traditional fermented drink shindari, and mandi rice cakes.
Performances will take place over two days. On the first day, the 7th, Director Kim Ji-yoon will host a ‘Romantic Talk Concert’ on dating, marriage and relationships, and the band Peppertones and others will take the stage.
On the 8th, broadcaster Park Myung-soo will appear as ‘DJ G.PARK.’ Performances by local artists including Gamgyul Seoridan, Junand and Humin will also follow.
An appointment ceremony will also be held during the festival for 10 ‘2027 Jeju Travel SNS Ambassadors.’ The Jeju Tourism Association plans to work with content creators in and outside Jeju to promote the island’s distinctive culture and tourism resources online.
Kang Dong-hoon, president of the Jeju Tourism Association, said, “This event was created to reinterpret the warm hospitality and sense of community embodied in Jeju’s traditional gamun janchi with a contemporary sensibility, so that tourists can experience it firsthand.”
