According to industry sources on the 2nd, Krafton Inc. launched the domestic service for its K-pop AI character chat service Kiff that day. Developed and operated by Krafton Inc., Kiff lets users enjoy fan activities by chatting with characters conceived by the artists themselves.
Kiff’s characters remember users’ preferences and previous conversations and reflect them in subsequent chats. They may also start conversations or share news about the artists to keep the conversation going. The service also offers a feature that turns a day’s conversations into an illustrated diary.
Users can choose between a text-based chat mode and a character mode, in which they interact with characters on screen. In character mode, the character moves in response to the conversation—for example, waving when the user says hello.
The first participating artists are girl group FIFTY FIFTY, signed to ATTRAKT. The group’s official character, “Weni,” was created with the members directly involved, from developing the persona to designing its appearance. The process of the members visiting Krafton Inc. and creating the character can be seen on Kiff’s official YouTube channel. The second episode will be released today, following the first, which came out on the 24th of last month.
Kiff is available in Korean through apps for iOS and Android for users aged 14 and older. Some conversations are free each day, while a monthly subscription for 3,900 won provides unlimited chat.
Krafton Inc. plans to expand the roster of participating artists and the countries where the service is available, and to add features in stages.
