[Financial News] Books, clothes and household goods collected over a month by employees of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) were put to use again through the hands of local residents.
According to the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation on the 2nd, LX held a bazaar that day on the first floor of its headquarters in Jeonju, Jeonbuk State, together with the Jeonju Moraenae branch of the Jeonbuk State headquarters of Beautiful Store, whose chairman is Park Jin-won. It was the second such event, following one in April, and was organized as a social contribution activity aimed at reducing carbon emissions by reusing resources and fostering shared growth with the local community.
Ahead of the event, employees voluntarily donated books, clothing, accessories and other items from October 1 through 30. The bazaar also sold locally produced goods and products supporting public-interest causes alongside these items. Local residents also visited the bazaar to help promote resource circulation.
The first-half event produced measurable results. At the first “A Beautiful Day,” held in April, 207 employees and residents took part, and 674 items were sold. Reusing the donated items reduced greenhouse gas emissions by about 58 kg CO2e (equivalent to 58 kg of carbon dioxide), an impact comparable to planting seven pine trees. All proceeds were given to Seondeok Children’s Home, the Regional Children’s Center Association and the Gunsan Sexual Violence Counseling Center, to support child and youth welfare and promote human rights.
Sharing bazaars like this are gradually becoming established among public institutions in Jeonbuk State. The Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency has also held a bazaar of the same name with Beautiful Store’s Jeonbuk State headquarters for four consecutive years. This year’s event was held on May 15, and all proceeds were given to Beautiful Store’s Jeonbuk State headquarters to support children from low-income families. Beautiful Store is a nonprofit public-interest foundation established in 2002. It has helped neighbors with proceeds from reselling items donated by the public and worked to expand a culture of reuse and recycling. It has about 100 stores nationwide.
Shin Seo-beom, head of LX’s Management Support Division, said, “I am grateful to our employees and local residents for coming together once again, following the event in the first half of the year,” adding, “I hope each item given a second life helps reduce carbon emissions and brings warmth to neighbors in need as winter approaches.”
