[Financial News] Korea Polytechnics’ Dongbusan Campus announced on the 2nd that students from its Department of Green Energy Facilities had won gold in the welding and piping categories at the 2nd National Welding and Piping Practical Skills Competition of 2026.
The competition was organized to test skilled techniques in welding and piping and identify technical talent with the expertise and practical skills required at industrial sites.
At the competition, Yoon Jin-hyeon from the welding category and Kang Jeong-gwan from the piping category, both students in the Department of Green Energy Facilities at Dongbusan Campus, each won gold.
Yoon said, "I think steadily putting into practice what I learned in the curriculum and practicing repeatedly led to this good result," adding, "I will continue to develop my welding skills and grow into a professional technician recognized at industrial sites."
The university’s Department of Green Energy Facilities trains talent equipped with specialized skills in welding and piping and the ability to adapt to industrial sites through hands-on education based on industry demand. By linking practical training with certification, it enhances students’ job skills and works to develop industry-ready technical talent for a range of sectors, including manufacturing, industrial plants and energy facilities.
Building on these educational achievements, Korea Polytechnics’ Dongbusan Campus is recruiting students for the 2027 academic year. The programs on offer are a professional technical course and a long-term course tailored for middle-aged adults, both of which support the acquisition of specialized welding skills as well as employment and reemployment.
