[Financial News] Singer Roy Kim fell off the stage after misstepping.
On the 2nd, a post titled “Singer Roy Kim’s Fall from the Stage” was uploaded to the online community MLB Park.
The poster, identified as A, shared a video of Roy Kim falling off the stage during a performance.
The video shows Roy Kim, with a guitar slung over his shoulder, walking toward the edge of the stage. Unable to see where to step, he steps into thin air and falls below.
After the video was posted on social media and began circulating, Roy Kim himself commented, “I even took the bad luck for you. I hope you all stay happy.”
On the 29th of last month, Roy Kim posted a photo of himself wearing a leg brace on his social media account and shared news of his injury. He said, “Maybe I was so overwhelmed with gratitude for the string of sold-out shows filled with love that I fell off the stage while performing for the first time in 14 years. Fortunately, I’ve been told I’ll be well enough by the concert, so don’t worry at all. On that note, I’m opening the few additional seats that were still available for the last time. Please join me.”
According to Maeil Business Newspaper, Roy Kim later explained what happened during a livestream. He said, “I was sound-checking at a performance venue for an event in Busan. The venue had originally been used for musicals, so there was a ‘pit’ area in front of the stage where you couldn’t see the audience seating. All the lights were off, so I didn’t realize the floor dropped away.”
He continued, “I thought that if my guitar got hurt, the audience wouldn’t be able to watch the show, so I landed on my feet and lay down on my backside to protect it. My right leg and knee were strained, but it was a huge relief that no bones were broken.” He added, “It does hurt, so I need to rest for two weeks, but it’s bearable. I protected my guitar and also completed the performance the next day successfully.”
