[Financial News] SK Square will return at least 4.3 trillion won to shareholders from the income it receives through dividends from SK Hynix. It is substantially increasing the amount returned under its previous shareholder return policy as it moves to enhance shareholder value.
SK Square said in its “2027 Shareholder Return Plan,” disclosed on the 2nd, that it would return at least 60% of its recurring dividend income to shareholders through 2028. It plans to return in full the proceeds from Kioxia’s special dividend announced by SK Hynix.
SK Square expects the funds available for SK Hynix’s cash dividends in 2026 to amount to at least 30 trillion won. Taking its stake into account, SK Square’s dividend income is estimated to exceed 6.2 trillion won. Of this, at least 4.3 trillion won will be returned to shareholders.
This plan is larger in scale than the previous “2026–2028 Shareholder Return Policy,” which called for returning at least 30% of recurring dividend income and part of investment gains. The company will raise the share of recurring dividend income returned to at least 60% and separately return 100% of the proceeds from Kioxia’s special dividend.
Early this year, SK Square converted 5.89 trillion won in capital reserves into retained earnings, laying the groundwork for shareholder returns. The company said it would decide the details of the plan through the relevant procedures after finalizing its financial statements for fiscal 2026.
SK Square said, “The announcement of this shareholder return plan is a clear statement of the board’s firm commitment to enhancing shareholder value,” adding, “We will also carefully prepare for new investments based on the principles of rational capital allocation (Capital allocation).”
