[Financial News] AsungDaiso Co., Ltd., a uniform-price household goods retailer, will operate a dedicated Product Safety Center to strengthen its verification of product safety.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. has set up the “AsungDaiso Product Safety Center” at the Gasan Digital Testing and Certification Center of FITI Testing & Research Institute and is moving to strengthen its product safety management system.
Through the new center, AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. will establish a “multilayered safety management system” by adding an in-house verification stage to its existing safety management procedures. Until now, for products requiring safety management under relevant laws, the company has received test reports, certificates and other documents from partner companies and checked whether the products met legal safety standards, including the Korea Certification (KC) requirements.
In addition to these procedures, the company plans to conduct its own safety checks before products are launched and verify whether raw materials, auxiliary materials or manufacturing processes have changed for each production lot. It plans to use these steps to manage the safety of the products it sells more closely.
The Product Safety Center will comprehensively assess product characteristics and the risk of safety incidents to determine which products to inspect, and check for hazardous substances before launch. During production, it will also inspect each production lot for changes to raw materials and manufacturing processes, and conduct additional testing if it finds changes that could affect safety. It will particularly strengthen safety verification for products intended for children, who are sensitive to hazardous substances.
AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. will work with FITI Testing & Research Institute to strengthen the center’s verification capabilities. FITI Testing & Research Institute was the first organization in South Korea to receive recognition from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) as an internationally accredited testing laboratory. For about 60 years, it has assessed the quality and safety of a range of consumer and industrial goods, including household products. AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. plans to draw on the institute’s technical expertise and testing experience to improve the accuracy and reliability of its product safety management.
A representative of AsungDaiso Co., Ltd. said, “We established the TQC (Total Quality Control) division, which is responsible for product quality, in 2018 to improve product quality, and began operating the Product Safety Center to strengthen it further,” adding, “We plan to continue improving our proactive product safety management system from the customer’s perspective.”
