【Financial News, Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong, reporter】Residents of Jeonnam-Gwangju Unified Special City (Gwangju Special City) will select the education office’s official symbolic image (CI) themselves.
On the 2nd, the Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education (Gwangju Special City Office of Education) said it was holding an online and offline public-preference vote from October 31 through the 10th to select a CI that will embody a new vision and identity for the integration of education administration in Jeonnam-Gwangju.
In-person voting is planned at locations across Jeonnam-Gwangju, including Yeosu, Muan County and Gwangju, beginning with the AI Future Education Expo held in Gwangju on October 31. Anyone can conveniently vote online through the official website, Jeonnam-Gwangju Education Tong and other channels.
Earlier, in June, the Gwangju Special City Office of Education launched a competition to develop a CI under the theme “Our Face, Made by Us,” placing public participation at its center while drawing on professional expertise.
A total of 278 entries were submitted, with designers and members of the public from across the country taking part with great interest. After expert evaluations and a review by an advisory panel, the Gwangju Special City Office of Education selected four finalists that combine broad public appeal with symbolic significance.
Superintendent of Education Kim Dae-jung said, “The symbolic CI marking the new beginning of the Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City Office of Education will be created together with the public from start to finish.” He explained, “This public vote is designed to let everyone in the cities and province take part directly in deciding the new education office’s ‘face,’ including not only the education community—students, parents and school staff—but also residents.”
He also said, “It is expected to underscore the significance of integrating education administration and broaden communication and consensus,” and urged people to take part, saying, “The K-Education Special City of Korea that we are creating will take shape through the enthusiastic interest and participation of not only the education community but also the public.”
The final results of the official CI competition are scheduled to be announced on December 15.
