[Financial News] The Gijang County Urban Management Corporation in Busan said on the 2nd that it had switched from its existing bulky-waste disposal system, “Yeogiro,” to a new system, “Smart Clean Gijang,” and began a pilot operation on the 1st.
The newly introduced system is designed to make disposal more convenient for bulky-waste users and to establish a faster, more accurate collection process. It is an integrated online system that handles everything from bulky-waste disposal reports and fee payments to collection management.
The system can be used on PCs and smartphones without installing a separate mobile app. Users can easily access it by entering “Smart Clean Gijang” in an internet portal’s search bar or by scanning the QR code on a promotional poster.
Users can access the system, enter details such as the item for disposal, its location and a photo, and pay the fee. They then write the disposal number on the waste and put it out at the designated location. The system sends notifications at each stage, from the disposal request through completion of collection, allowing users to easily check the status of their request.
It also supports various payment methods, including credit cards, virtual accounts, and payments through Kakao Corp. and NAVER Pay. Collection staff can check reported information, including the item for disposal and its location, through the system, which is expected to help them collect waste more quickly and accurately.
The corporation plans to run a pilot of the system through the 31st of next month, then put it into full operation starting January 1 next year. The existing “Yeogiro” disposal service will consequently be discontinued.
A corporation official said, “We expect this change to the disposal system to make it easier and more convenient for residents to dispose of bulky waste, and to enable staff at collection sites to check disposal information accurately and handle it more quickly. During the pilot period, we will thoroughly inspect the system and prepare to ensure residents are not inconvenienced when the full transition takes place next year.”
