[Financial News] Ceragem has continued its social contribution activities for more than 20 years, focusing on underserved areas overseas in the field of education. Moving beyond simple donations of goods, the company is focusing on support tailored to local conditions, including school facility upgrades, educational equipment and commuting infrastructure. Its efforts are seen as an attempt, as a company operating overseas, to build long-term relationships with local communities.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, Ceragem recently carried out its “Hope School No. 18 Project” in Fujian Province, China. Hope School is an education-focused social contribution initiative that Ceragem’s China subsidiary has pursued since 2005.
Ceragem’s China subsidiary has aimed to support at least one school each year, building schools or upgrading facilities and providing educational equipment in areas with poor educational environments. With this project, it has supported improvements to the educational environment at a total of 18 schools.
The school receiving support this time is a rural boarding school for ethnic Mongolians in Fujian Province, established in 1966. Its students include ethnic-minority children, as well as many children who live in rural areas while their parents work elsewhere. The school needed improvements to its educational and living facilities so students could study and live in a stable environment.
Ceragem’s China subsidiary therefore upgraded facilities at the school, including its cafeteria, dormitories, reading rooms and counseling rooms, and provided related supplies and equipment. Its support went beyond simply providing educational materials to include the everyday living spaces used by students and facilities that help support their emotional well-being.
Ceragem’s overseas social contribution efforts focus on addressing practical challenges in areas that lack educational infrastructure. While it focuses on school facility upgrades in China, in India it runs the “Dream School Project” to expand educational infrastructure. In Bangladesh, it has provided students with educational supplies following its scholarship support.
In Vietnam, Ceragem has worked to improve students’ commutes. Since 2020, it has pursued the “Bridge of Hope” project, building bridges in areas where students face difficulties getting to school. The aim is to improve access to education by providing infrastructure that allows students to travel safely to school.
In this way, Ceragem tailors its support to the educational environment and community needs in each country. In China in particular, it has continued the initiative since 2005, focusing on long-term improvements to the educational environment rather than one-time assistance.
Ceragem also continues its social contribution activities in Korea. These include supporting children from vulnerable backgrounds through ChildFund Korea, along with a range of other charitable initiatives. Its activities are tailored to local needs, focusing overseas on improving educational facilities and commuting conditions, and in Korea on supporting children from vulnerable backgrounds.
A Ceragem representative said, “We will continue to support improvements to educational environments and the development of future talent, and grow together with local communities through our ongoing charitable efforts.”
