Shinsegae Department Store launches SSG Day sale to tap winter shopping demand

[Financial News] Shinsegae Department Store is seeking to attract customers for SSG Day, the Shinsegae Group’s biggest shopping event of the year, with discounts and gifts across a wide range of categories, including fashion, food and home goods.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, Shinsegae Department Store will offer a range of discount coupons and gift benefits during the event, which runs through the 8th, with offers varying by date.
First, through the 5th, customers who spend at least 10,000 won at a single sweets or deli brand, or at least 30,000 won at the food market, will receive 3,000 won off their purchase in each case. Customers spending at least 200,000 won at a single kitchenware, bedding or decor brand will receive a 10,000-won discount.
From the 6th through the 8th, the discounts will increase. Customers spending at least 10,000 won at a food and beverage (F&B) outlet or at least 30,000 won at the food market can receive 5,000 won off their purchase in each case. A 10,000-won discount will apply to purchases of at least 100,000 won at a wine brand or 200,000 won at a single fashion-accessories brand.
Discount coupons will also be available on Shinsegae Department Store’s own online platform, BEYOND SHINSEGAE. Each day, coupons will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis: a 15% coupon offering up to 30,000 won off purchases of at least 30,000 won, and a 20% coupon offering up to 10,000 won off purchases of at least 50,000 won.
The department store has also prepared an event aimed at diners. During Dining Week, which runs through the 6th, customers can get a 10,000-won discount coupon usable in the restaurant areas starting at 5:30 p.m. each day. The offer varies by store.
SSG Day special products include a set of two VBC Casa Glitz Gold Rim Goblets and a Miele freestanding dishwasher. From the 4th through the 8th, all items at Nike stores in every Shinsegae Department Store location will be on sale at discounts of up to 30%.
The department store is also holding an Outerwear Fair and Gonggan Saseol Living Week at all its locations through the 15th, seeking to tap into winter shopping demand.
Lee Seong-hwan, executive vice president in charge of sales strategy at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “For SSG Day, we’ve prepared a generous range of benefits, from popular products to discount and gift promotions,” adding, “As the biggest discount event of the year, we’ll bring customers the joy of shopping with benefits they can really feel.”
