[Financial News] HK inno.N Corp. is entering the medical device market by partnering with Roche Diagnostics Korea to supply its point-of-care testing (POCT) platform in South Korea. The move aims to secure a new growth engine by expanding beyond its business structure centered on prescription drugs into medical devices.
HK inno.N Corp. announced on the 2nd that it had signed a domestic sales agreement with Roche Diagnostics Korea for the cobas click point-of-care testing platform. Under the agreement, HK inno.N Corp. will handle domestic sales and distribution of cobas click starting this month.
cobas click is an integrated diagnostic platform that can rapidly perform tests related to diabetes and cardiovascular disease, including glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), lipids, and C-reactive protein (CRP), within medical institutions. It can assess blood glucose control and cardiovascular disease risk using only a fingertip blood sample, without sending specimens to an outside testing facility.
The platform also offers improved test accuracy and operational convenience. For HbA1c tests, it minimizes interference from variant hemoglobin, while its lipid tests use an algorithm to reduce errors in triglyceride measurements. The reagents can be stored at room temperature for up to 16 months, and the platform is expected to be highly useful even at clinics that lack the capacity to operate a separate laboratory.
The market entry comes amid growing demand for rapid in-house testing at neighborhood clinics, driven by an aging population and an increase in patients with chronic diseases. HK inno.N Corp. plans to leverage its existing prescription drug sales network to establish a distribution base for medical devices and expand its business in the chronic disease management market.
An HK inno.N Corp. representative said, "We will provide rapid and accurate diagnostic results from a single blood draw, improving diagnostic convenience at clinics and contributing to effective disease management for patients."
