[Financial News] Virtual idol group Plave (PLAVE) has donated 100 million won to help children around the world. The group will also take part in an event commemorating World Children’s Day this month and deliver messages about children’s rights and mental health.
According to the Korean Committee for UNICEF on the 2nd, the donation will fund UNICEF programs for children whose survival and development are threatened by conflict, disasters and poverty, among other things. Plave signed a social contribution agreement with the committee last August and has since worked with it on initiatives to support children’s healthy development and promote their rights.
On the 20th, Plave will deliver a keynote address at The Children’s Festa, hosted by the committee. This year’s event will be held on the 19th and 20th under the theme “Children’s Mental Health in the Digital Environment.” Plave’s address can be heard at the venue or watched via livestream online.
November 20, World Children’s Day, marks the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention guarantees children’s survival and development and includes their right to express their views and be respected on matters that affect them.
Plave said, “We hope every child can discover their own potential in a safe environment and envision their future,” adding, “We hope this contribution will help, even in a small way, children facing difficult circumstances. We will continue to stand with them so they can make their voices heard and build a better tomorrow.”
The Children’s Festa is an event organized to discuss major issues affecting children and hear their voices. Details about the program and how to register are available on the event website.
Heo Geum-ju, secretary-general of the Korean Committee for UNICEF, said she hoped the funds would provide practical help to children facing hardship and that the messages delivered at the event would encourage greater interest in children’s rights and mental health.
