Hyundai Motor Company said on the 2nd that it was launching a service on Hyundai Certified Used Cars that provides new information based on Bluelink driving data, inspection data from its official service network and EV battery diagnostic data.
Hyundai Motor Company is adding information on past driving and inspections that customers have previously found difficult to access. For vehicles whose previous owners have consented to the use of their information, it will disclose the previous owner’s safe-driving score and the vehicle’s inspection history from the official service network.
The safe-driving score is calculated by analyzing Hyundai Motor Company connected-car data, including the number of instances of rapid acceleration, hard braking, sudden starts and late-night driving, based on 1,000 km driven within the most recent 90 days. Buyers can use the score as a reference for the previous owner’s driving habits.
The official service-network inspection history shows Blue Assurance Inspection records and replacement records for key consumables, such as engine oil, air-conditioning filters and antifreeze, from Blue Hands, Hyundai High-Tech Centers and other locations. Separately from the vehicle’s past history, Hyundai Certified Used Cars replaces all key consumables before putting the vehicle up for sale.
Information on the vehicle’s current condition is also provided. Using its own dedicated digital diagnostic equipment, developed in-house, Hyundai Motor Company checks 272 items on its vehicles and 287 on GENESIS vehicles, then issues a report. This is among the highest totals in the industry.
For electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor Company provides information on battery condition, which it diagnoses directly, in a dedicated inspection report. It adds cell-voltage variations, battery-temperature variations and cumulative charge/discharge records to the battery SOH (state of health of the high-voltage battery) information it had previously disclosed.
A Hyundai Motor Company representative said, “Since launching our certified used-car business in October 2023, we have continually expanded the vehicle information we provide to build trust in the used-car market and create an environment where customers can choose vehicles with confidence.”
The representative added, “Going forward, as the manufacturer that built the vehicles and the party that knows them best, we will continue to provide more accurate and comprehensive vehicle information tailored to the needs of customers buying used cars.”
