[Financial News] HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS, HD Hyundai’s robotics solutions company, is joining forces with global AI software company Palantir Technologies to secure a leading position in Physical AI solutions. The effort also aims to streamline the work processes and engineering roles involved in deploying Physical AI.
HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS said on the 1st that its chief technology officer (CTO), Executive Director An Seong-hwan, delivered a keynote address at the Sovereignty Bootcamp hosted by Palantir Technologies in New York, United States. The camp aimed to explore ways to protect corporate data and strengthen business competitiveness through AI. Around 450 executives from some 250 global organizations and companies attended under Palantir’s leadership.
After outlining HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS’ strategy and vision for deploying Physical AI, CTO An Seong-hwan shared the status and results of its collaboration with Palantir. At the heart of the partnership is a redefinition of workflows and engineers’ roles to suit the deployment of Physical AI.
The approach brings AI, simulation and engineers’ judgment together. Currently, experienced engineers directly monitor the robots’ movements and adjust the work sequence, routes and speed. Instead, the proposal is for engineers to refine recommendations generated when an AI assistant (agent) analyzes existing robot programs.
HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS’ position is that on-site engineers should take on the role of solution specialists. Rather than stopping at robot programming, installation and commissioning, they should define problems at the worksite and actively use AI to implement solutions.
HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS aims to cut robot programming costs by at least half with this solution. It has already delivered results. Since last August, HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS and Palantir have adopted AI assistants, reducing the average time required for work from 21.5 days to 7.9 days.
“We are continuing to expand our partnerships with global companies to further advance our Physical AI capabilities,” CTO An Seong-hwan said. “We will identify projects that can solve problems at the worksite more quickly and effectively, and expand the scope of application for our Physical AI solutions business.”
“We are pursuing collaboration, starting with projects that can deliver measurable results in a short period,” said Ryan Taylor, Palantir’s chief revenue officer (CRO). “Going forward, we will connect HD HYUNDAI ROBOTICS’ robots with Palantir’s AIP (AI platform) to create new business opportunities and help secure a competitive edge.”
