[Financial News] Actor Lee Je-hoon paid his final respects to the late Choi Bool-am, expressing his admiration and paying tribute with a heavy heart.
On November 1, Lee Je-hoon visited the funeral parlor at Seoul Asan Medical Center and spoke with reporters, recalling the special bond he had formed with the late actor through the drama ‘Chief Detective 1958.’ “The biggest reason that drama could exist was that Mr. Choi Bool-am was there,” he said. “It was such a great honor to act alongside him, and the path you have walked will be the greatest guide for my acting career going forward,” he said, sharing his feelings.
He also spoke of the profound impression left by the late actor’s uniquely gentle nature.
Lee Je-hoon, who played ‘young Chief Park’ in the drama, prepared for his role by closely observing the veteran actor’s expressions and actions. But the late actor instead put him at ease, saying, “I hope you can feel comfortable. I look forward to seeing your take on young Chief Park, and I’ll watch you with interest.” Lee recalled, “That childlike, easygoing smile everyone in the country knows was a great inspiration. Thanks to his warm words, I could relax, think deeply about the role, and immerse myself in the acting.”
Lee Je-hoon, who says he has no memories of his paternal grandfather, recalled how the late actor warmly embraced all the staff and younger colleagues on set. “I thought that if my paternal grandfather had been alive, perhaps he would have been just like this,” he said, leaving those around him solemn.
Finally, he said, “I will carry with me the spirit of the teacher who has led theater and TV dramas in Korea, and do my best to follow that path.” He added, “I hope you will watch over us from a good place, at peace and happy,” leaving behind an expression of deep longing for the veteran actor.
