[Financial News] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), where at least 8 in 10 employees targeted for training completed AI ethics training, has received AI ethics certification for public institutions.
According to LH on the 1st, it received an “AI Ethics Compliance Organization” confirmation mark from the National Information Society Agency (NIA). NIA issues the mark to organizations that meet requirements such as establishing institution-wide AI ethics principles and completing AI ethics training for employees and executives. It is official recognition that an organization has embedded AI ethics and is putting it into practice.
There are specific thresholds as well. An organization must establish its own AI ethics principles and put them into practice, such as by publishing them on its website or incorporating them into work procedures. At least 70% of its current personnel, including the head of the institution and executives, must complete NIA’s AI ethics training. NIA launched the program in 2024, focusing mainly on private-sector AI companies, and expanded it to public institutions starting this year. With the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC), the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and others recently receiving the mark in succession, more public institutions are obtaining it.
LH plans to expand AI ethics training for its employees and executives following its receipt of the confirmation mark. It also plans to prominently display the mark on its website and various promotional materials, helping spread a culture of responsible AI use throughout the public sector.
An LH official said, “We will continue to further strengthen our practice of AI ethics and take the lead in spreading a culture of responsible AI use in the public sector.”
