[Financial News] On Nov. 1, the first day of the month, skies will be mostly cloudy nationwide, with rain that starts in central regions spreading to southern regions and Jeju Island in the afternoon. Daytime highs are forecast to be 10–18°C, lower than the previous day, and up to 60 mm of rain is expected in Jeju’s mountainous and mid-mountain areas through dawn on the 2nd.
According to the nationwide forecast issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) at 5 a.m. on the 1st, rain beginning in central regions that morning will spread to southern regions and Jeju Island in the afternoon. Some high mountainous areas in Gangwon Province at elevations of 1,200 meters or higher will see rain or snow.
Expected precipitation on the 1st and 2nd is 5–40 mm in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province, and 5–20 mm in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong Province, North Chungcheong Province, North Jeolla Province, Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province. Around 5 mm is forecast for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province, and 5–10 mm for the Five West Sea Islands. Jeju Island is expected to receive 20–60 mm in mountainous and mid-mountain areas and 5–40 mm along the coast.
Rain is expected to let up in many parts of the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province during the afternoon. Rain will have mostly stopped by night in Seoul, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi Province, and central and northern Gangwon Province, while some other areas will continue to see rain until dawn on the 2nd. Some parts of Jeju Island may receive heavy rain of around 20 mm per hour on the night of the 1st.
The daytime high on the 1st is forecast to be 10–18°C. On the 2nd, the morning low is forecast at 6–13°C and the daytime high at 14–20°C.
Caution is also advised due to strong winds and high waves. From the night of the 1st through the 2nd, some parts of Jeju Island may see strong winds with gusts of up to 55 km/h, and mountainous areas may see gusts of around 70 km/h. Waves in the offshore waters south of Jeju Island and the outer offshore waters of the eastern South Sea are expected to reach up to 3.5 meters.
The KMA advised people to take care to avoid accidents, saying that visibility would be reduced and roads could be slippery in areas receiving rain, and that high waves caused by swell could reach the East Sea coast.
