The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) said on the 1st that a total of 113,454 students in Seoul are set to take the 2027 College Scholastic Ability Test. That is 704 fewer than last year.
There are 49,438 graduate test takers, up 2,759 from the previous year. Their share of all test takers also rose by 2.6 percentage points, from 40.9% to 43.5%. By contrast, the number of currently enrolled students fell by 3,658 to 59,625, while their share dropped from 55.4% to 52.5%. Other test takers, including those with equivalency exam certificates, increased by 195 to 4,391.
By gender, there are 59,325 male students (52.3%) and 54,129 female students (47.7%).
The CSAT in Seoul will be held at 228 test sites across 11 testing districts. A total of 4,310 examination rooms will be in operation, and accessible testing sites for students with disabilities will be set up at four schools. A separate examination room will also be arranged at the Seoul Southern Detention Center, as it was last year.
Dedicated staff will be assigned to each test site to prevent cheating with smart glasses. Smart glasses are prohibited items at test sites. Anyone caught wearing them during the exam will have their CSAT results invalidated and be barred from taking the exam the following year for one year.
The pre-exam orientation for test takers will be held on the 18th. They must check the locations of their test site and examination room on that day, and enter their assigned room by 8:10 a.m. on exam day. Scores will be released on December 11.
