[Financial News] It has emerged belatedly that actor Choi Bool-am, now deceased, personally requested a program reflecting on his life while he was receiving treatment for an illness.
On the afternoon of the 30th, early in that day's broadcast of MBC's memorial special encore documentary “Paha, I'm Choi Bool-am,” the production team stated in an on-screen caption, “In 2025, while already receiving treatment for an illness, actor Choi Bool-am personally called the production team and asked them to make a program reflecting on his life.”
The team went on to explain the background to the broadcast, saying, “In response to his request, this documentary aired in May this year while he was still alive.”
The documentary first aired in May and presents Choi Bool-am's acting career, spanning several decades, in the form of a single playlist. It revisited the works he appeared in and the life stories they contained, alongside music, and focused on Choi as both an actor and a person through accounts from his colleagues.
Choi Bool-am died at around 10 p.m. on the 29th while receiving inpatient treatment at a hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. He was 87.
The funeral was arranged at the funeral hall of Asan Medical Center. It will be a five-day funeral, held as a Green Umbrella Children's Foundation funeral. The funeral procession will depart at 7:40 a.m. on November 2. A funeral Mass will be held at Yeouido Catholic Church in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, presided over by Cardinal Yeom Soo-jung. He will be buried at Donghwa Gyeongmo Park in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
