[Financial News] SpaceX was the stock most heavily net-bought by Korean retail investors in overseas markets over the past week.
According to Koscom ETF CHECK and the Korea Securities Depository (KSD) on the 31st, Korean retail investors in overseas markets bought $221.83 million worth of SpaceX shares (296.3 billion won) over the past week (the 23rd to the 29th). SpaceX turned a profit for the first time in a quarter since going public, and the possibility of a merger with Tesla has also been raised. Sentiment anticipating a corresponding rise in SpaceX’s share price ahead of Anthropic’s Nasdaq listing also appears to have played a role.
They also made substantial net purchases of major individual technology stocks, including Alphabet Inc. (third, $83.36 million) and Micron Technology, Inc. (fifth, $74.68 million). Among ETFs, they net-bought $86.41 million of QLD (second), which tracks twice the daily return of the Nasdaq-100 Index, and $80.44 million of TQQQ (fourth), which tracks it at three times the daily return.
Domestic investors’ net purchases of U.S. stocks reached an 11-month high. From the 1st to the 29th (based on the date of inquiry), Korean retail investors’ net purchases of U.S. stocks totaled $5.42268 billion (7.249 trillion won). That was 5.4 times the previous month’s amount and the highest level since November last year, when the figure was $5.93442 billion.
KODEX KOSDAQ 150 Leverage ETF saw inflows of 174.4 billion won, the third-largest inflow among all ETFs. KODEX Leverage ETF received 148.7 billion won in inflows, ranking fourth.
With indices repeatedly surging and plunging enough to trigger sidecars three times over the past week, substantial funds continued to flow into financial products suited to volatile markets, including KODEX Money Market Active (first, 732.7 billion won) and Mirae Asset TIGER Dividend Premium Active ETF (second, 239.3 billion won).
