[Financial News] Archbishop Peter Chung Soon-taick, head of the Archdiocese of Seoul, mourned actor Choi Bool-am, who died on the 29th.
Archbishop Chung issued a message of condolence on the 30th, recalling, “For many years, actor Choi Bool-am shared life’s joys and sorrows with us through theater and broadcasting, and brought love and comfort to many through his sincere performances. In particular, as a father figure and an elder in our society, he has long held a warm place in the hearts of the public.”
He also noted, among other things, that the late actor had served as chair of the supporters’ association of ChildFund Korea.
Archbishop Chung emphasized, “As chair of the supporters’ association of ChildFund Korea, he practiced sharing for about 40 years to help children facing difficult circumstances, and led the way in arts and culture education for juvenile inmates and at-risk youth. The father he portrayed in dramas, who welcomed a child in difficult circumstances into his family, was reflected in his real life, in which he paid attention to marginalized children and reached out to help them.” He added, “The life of the late actor, who shared with his neighbors the love he received from the public, reminds us of the true meaning of love and sharing.”
He continued, “The late actor, who became a child of God through baptism in 2018, received the Anointing of the Sick from Cardinal Yeom Soo-jung on October 20. I hope that his faith journey, which began with baptism, will come to a peaceful end in the Lord.”
Archbishop Chung also said, “I hope that the life and legacy of the late actor, who lived as both an actor and a person of faith, will be remembered by us for a long time.”
